Every new home built in Australia requires a thermal performance assessment. There are slightly different requirements in each State but NatHERS Software is used throughout the country under the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme.
NatHERS can be used to meet minimum performance standards or as a tool to assist in the design of a home that maximises the benefits of its location and materials whilst minimising the energy required to maintain comfort and reducing the buildings impact on the environment.
We are fully accredited under NatHERS meaning that we are bound by a strict code of conduct, are fully insured and our work is regularly quality assured.
In NSW, all new homes, units and most alterations and additions require a BASIX Assessment. This must be submitted with your Development Application through the NSW Planning Portal.
A BASIX Assessment includes minimum standards for water efficiency, energy efficiency and thermal comfort.
We are extremely experienced in using the tool allowing us to select cost effective and available products & materials whilst ensuring that it will all will work at a practical level in your new home.
There are a number of ways to meet the Thermal Comfort Requirements of BASIX. We use a NatHERS Assessment to determine compliance as it is the most accurate and flexible way to determine thermal performance.
Section J Assessments are required for commercial buildings throughout Australia under the National Construction Code.
There are two pathways to compliance being deemed-to-saisfy (DTS) & Verification method (commonly referred to as JV3).
A DTS assessment looks at location, orientation, materials, heating/cooling and electrical systems to determine the minimum standards required for construction..
At times, a DTS assessment may result in an option that is not consistent with good design and/or is not cost effective. In these cases a JV3 assessment is conducted using specialised software that, like NatHERS, offers greater flexibility and often a more favourable outcome.
